US Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson Speaks to DRT
Today Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson (R-TX) spoke to a packed room at the DRT Tuesday breakfast. She shared her insight on the current issues before congress including the auto bailout and a potential request for the remaining $350 billion from the bail-out plan. She indicated that she had some major concerns about how the remaining $350 billion should be spent and heard from members on there concerns that the bailout money has not re-started commercial lending nor done anything to help the foreclosure problem.
She also addressed questions on the partisan nature of the Senate and congress and the challenges she faces not only as a Republican in the minority but also the issues representing a large state and the interaction she faces with the smaller states within the US Senate. Very interesting point about the nature of the Senate versus the House.
Overall she was her typical pleasent self and shared good insight with the group.
Of course, she did not mention her run for Texas Governor…I am sure we will hear more about this soon….
