AFI Film Festival provided by Chad Cook, DRT Member
As you may be aware, Dallas is hosting a film festival from March 22 thru April 1, 2007. The festival will have 193 films from around the world. The films will be shown at the Magnolia, the Angelica, AMC NorthPark, etc. on several screens. A friend of mine at Victory Park has been working on it for some time. In addition, a high school friend of mine has a film which he wrote and directed which is in the festival. It is called “Park” and is rated R. It is a comedy starring…..Billy Baldwin, Tretch (rap singer), Cheri Oteri (from Saturday Night Live) and Ricki Lake (she has been in more movies than you would think but not many blockbusters). I went out to LA last year to see it being filmed and then to Vegas last Summer for the premier and it is very funny. It has been to film festivals in Brazil, Vegas, Aspen, Rotterdam and Nashville to name a few. It will be showing at the Magnolia on March 28 at 7:30pm and March 29 at 9:45pm. Ricki Lake will be there and she is SINGLE in case anyone is looking for a reason to come other than a movie! (I already know the jokes that will be forthcoming about a fellow DRT member). PS. By the way, my friend also wrote “Sweet November” which starred Keanu Reeves and Charlize Theron.
